Gurmeet Goldie is a sculptor who knows how to mould her attitude and materials to the dictates of her ever blossoming spirit. An alumna of Government College of Art Chandigarh, Goldie inspired many young women aspirants to defeat the challenges of time and space in the frenzied flight of their urge.
She is blessed to have an artist soul mate, Kanwal Pal Singh who is himself a versatile artist and both fly together in the oneness of their commitment, each supporting the other from the core of their hearts to embrace the sublime. The challenges of material manipulation give her the strength to defeat the restrictions that women usually face in their journey to realise their cherished dreams.
Her sculptures in stone, metal and wood embody the indomitable spirit of a woman. Feminism in its truest uninhibited form, gives values and virtues to an evolved human spirit. Her creations carry the melody that liberates humanity from the bondage of its own chaos. Her sustained efforts to churn the gems that lie latent in the deepest layers of time and space are the light and warmth of her character.
She is the recipient of prestigious awards but for her the greatest achievement lies in seeking the spirit of inanimate materials which for her is the ultimate source of gaining the true potential of mind and spirit. Her tryst with sculpture gave her the insight to explore her drawings and paintings where again rhythm epitomises manifested aspirations of the volatile urge.
She feels hard work leads a person to invent and invest the sentiments that art and heart bestows on mankind. She truly embodies the sentiments expressed by William Blake in the following words of his poem ‘Auguries of Innocence’
